Original Page Intro

Returning after a two-year hiatus from his homepage, Thaddeus Roscoe Robison Boyd curses the state of the world today. Something must be done. The madness must be stopped. Shouldering his copy of Final Fantasy VI and praying to the gods of the Opera Browser, he does what he must to save the world: he creates yet another page centered around the rantings of a disgruntled nostalgianaut.

Yeah, yeah, I'm back. All the millions of fans reflected by my obviously-glitchy GeoCities counter may rejoice.

Sonic SatAM Petition @ teamartail.com

That's right, you rat bastards. There's a chance for Sonic SatAM to come back. The negotiations have already begun. Sign the zarking petition. Now. ...I give you permission to make fun of me for trying to include HTML tags in my commentary there.

What's New

First Update

People also tend to irrationally enjoy What's New sections. So, I am adding one before I even put the page up! Now that's service.

Added Stream of Consciousness, My Personal Life, and What's New sections.

Afternoon

Okay, okay, so that's the most onoriginal title I could've possibly come up with, short of "I Can't Think of a More Original Title Than This". Added a link to Greg's page for comedic effect. He's the guy who kept my copy of Mega Man X3 for two years.

Also added a link to Washington University's Performing Arts Department. ...I haven't actually talked to Bevin in a year.

(The title just came to me because I was in a play last night and my eyeliner made me look like an anime character. I'm sorry.

New Life and Stream.

Sorta revamped my Links section, and tossed StarOffice in there.

Corrected some (two...one if you don't fault my misspelling "McGough") general spelling and grammatical errors here and on the Link page. Added a mail link that makes me hope my grandmother never finds this site.

Added banner for Sonic petition to main page and Links page...and I'll add it here too. Why the hell not, right?

Added link to Brad's page.

Added Stream.

...Damn. I don't know precisely what "the Raid" is, but it appears to mean I can't upload the damn page tonight. And after I went to all that effort to keep my eyes open so I could update it at 3:15 AM. ...Oh well. You're reading this, so I've obviously gotten it up, and you probably really don't even know the difference. So enjoy.

...Actually, I'm sure you've enjoyed already. I really should get around to moving the What's New section to the top, where it would make sense...

First Major Reconstruction

If you've ever been here before, you know that it looked different from how it does now.

I taught myself how to use tables this weekend.

In coming weeks, I hope to teach myself to use tables well.

Moved FAQ and all previous (and copied this) What's New, Stream of Consciousness, and My Personal Life segments to Archive section.

From here on in, What's New goes above Stream and Life. Cuz that just makes more sense.

Added "Uploaded" notation to address area at the bottom of every page. Cuz I often make a page some time before I upload it.

New Life.

The "Bat-Man"

This is a new section detailing whatever's going through my head just now. ...It's interesting that I should announce it as a new section, since I haven't actually put the page up yet, but I finished and intended to put it up last night. Graffiti's CGI's just glitchy.

Yesterday was Wednesday.

For those of you who don't realize the importance of Wednesday, it's when Diamond's shipment of comics always hits the local stores.

I picked up a copy of the Millennium Edition reprint of Detective Comics #27. Ordinarily, I would probably inform my audience of the publisher of a work I mentioned, but if you can't figure out the name of the publisher of Detective Comics, well, you're probably too dim to figure out the publisher of Captain Marvel, too.

Anyway...just an interesting read. First appearance of the "Bat-Man", as Kane refers to him in any given narrative box.

Didn't get into the whole "tortured millionaire whose parents were killed" angle, nor the "bunch of brightly-costumed supervillains" bit, either, but the seeds were definitely sown for some of the major points of the series. Mainly, Commissioner Gordon is established as a supporting character, and, in a relatively-predictable (and not just because the character's been famous for the past sixty years) twist ending, Batman is revealed to be Bruce Wayne.

No Batmobile, though. Batman just drives around in a regular car. You'd think people would look at him funny at stoplights.

I Got Through Lovecraft Okay, But Tolkien Gave Me Nightmares.

(Now, I know typically things like this have the newest update at the top. I shall begin subscribing to this tradition once I start updating the page after it's actually up. In the meantime, these updates are pretty much for my own benefit and so the page will seem less new once I've put it up. Since this will be the first time anyone's reading, I don't think "newer updates higher" need apply.)

Got a P3 last week. I'm enjoying it. Except it's arguing with my hard drive. ...At first I could get into Windows okay, but my own personal meddling has made it so I can't get into safe mode. The best I can do is Safe Mode Command Prompt, so I am presently editing the page in DOS Edit. (WYSIWYG my ass.)

I think the title of this section is pretty self-explanatory. The other night I had a dream I was being pursued by Ringwraiths. ...But I was actually thinking of Lovecraft when I went to bed...

War Wounds, Naked Wrists, and a Bigass Monitor

I've had a few war wounds refurbishing computers before, but Friday was the worst and I'm still nurturing the blisters. ...A word to the wise: just because power supplies in computer cases are contained in metal boxes does not mean they are in external hard drive cases.

I spent almost all of today without my precious digital watch. Then I found it fifteen minutes ago.

This past week, I got a 19" Hitachi SuperScan Elite 751. I currently have it set to its max resolution, 1600x1200. There's something extremely satisfying about realizing I could fit a full screen on my old monitor in a quarter of this one. =D

...You know...I'm told Malcolm In the Middle is an average show at best...but I really can't tell, because it kicks so much ass just based on its They Might Be Giants soundtrack.

They Might Be Giants kick ass.

I'm a bit tired, but it seems like I should add something...

Really the only reason I stayed up this late updating was because I was waiting for my girlfriend to IM me...but my pager just went off, meaning she must be having trouble connecting, so I'm gonna go ahead and get to bed soon.

I saw Man On the Moon again. Best film of '99.

My brother got a haircut. I think he's finally reached the crushing realization that I know haunts me everytime I close my eyes...

You mean...I'm going to stay this color?!
(Steve Martin, The Jerk. But if you didn't know that, you have no right to be here.)

I decided to go ahead and add that links section (see link at the top of the page; I won't include it here as a relative link would mean I'd have to remember to change it when I archive this section, and an absolute link would mean I'd have to remember to change it when I get another server).

So Dragonfire finally got around to yanking my old page. ...Kinda surprising, really.

Rocky Horror and Michelangelo's Last Judgment

Forgot to add this when I put my Man On the Moon commentary up the other day...how many people noticed, at the beginning of the film, when he leaves the bar (or club or whatever it is) he gets fired from, the bunch of Rocky Horror Show flyers on the wall in the background?

You'd think it'd be easier to find a copy of Michelangelo's Last Judgment than it is. In case you're ever looking for one, hit http://adex3.flycast.com/server/iframe/TheArtchive/Artchive/1994378.

So...they killed off Maude Flanders. That's gonna have a really interesting set of repercussions...I mean, that really totally changes Homer and Flanders' relationship, as well as Bart's with Rod and Todd...

This Is Only a Test

...You know what I haven't seen in awhile? A test of the Emergency Broadcast System.

I mean, don't get me wrong...I mainly remember seeing them in my childhood during commercial breaks of Saturday morning cartoons, alongside public service announcements of sadistic and vindictive lightning bugs singing about how you shouldn't stick a knife in an electrical outlet or try to move an open external hard drive. As the only children's cartoons I currently watch are Voltron: The Third Dimension and Beast Machines, I really can't say for sure they're not around.

But what if they are gone forever? I mean...think of it. The butt of so many of our jokes, rubbed out. It's scary. Our children will grow up looking at us funny if we make a crack about the Emergency Broadcast System...just like we laugh when Grandpa tries to tell us stories about pipe organs and stuff.

Another February 26th

Ah, another February 26th.

The last one, incidentally, was host to a series of events that irrevocably shifted the course of my life. ...First somewhat negatively, then reasonably positively, then unbelievably negatively, and now, finally, disquieting-but-for-the-most-part-over ripples in the positive pond that is my life thus far. ...In short, I think I handled such events far better than did some people.

For all the ups and downs of my memory that this anniversary instilled, I had a good day.

...And...well, for this next part to make a proper amount of sense, I must first explain that, a week ago, I chipped my right front tooth performing the surprisingly-complex task of drinking a glass of water while walking down the hall.

Tonight, at my twelfth trip to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, I noticed something quite interesting...

The Lips have precisely the same chip in the same tooth tooth that I do.

To that end, I am momentarily considering not having it leveled out. ...I mean, it's a really small chip, barely noticeable, and doesn't interfere with functionality...

I love you, Ruth.

Don't Make Me Go Back There and Act Like a Straight Negroid

Today, I was standing in line.

I frequently stand in line when there is food involved.

I expect, in future years, to engage in even more line-standing resulting from endeavors to obtain food.

At any rate, I was standing in line for lunch, and a young black woman tossed some cash to the woman in front of me, asking her to get her some food and drink.

I'm not quite sure what exactly happened next, but the friend must have accidentally tottered off with her drink after buying it, because she started yelling at the cashier (a friend of mine).

The most memorable utterance she made was, "Don't make me go back there and act like a straight negroid."

Determining that to be the best bit of Springer-speak I've heard in weeks, I have decided it will be a staple of my day-to-day speech.

My Personal Life

99.12.09

Games: Mostly Final Fantasy stuff. 8, 5, and 6 (Anth). Haven't done much with Suikoden 2 since beating it awhile ago...waiting to get my copy of 1 back so I can go through both of them. ...Plus, I'm going to name my main character something with all caps, so I don't end up with "HcDohl" or "ScDRhl" or something.

Books: Rereading The Lord of the Rings. God that man could write.

00.02.06

Games: Nothin' recently. A friend having, after two years, finally returned my copy of Mega Man X3, I went ahead and played through it again. ...Had to look up an FAQ before I finally figured out how I managed to kill Vile before...

Books: Just finished Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It kicked a considerable amount of ass. Haven't started ....and the Chamber of Secrets yet.

00.02.11

Games: Played a little Super Mario World this week. Almost through Donut Plains.

Books: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. ...Anyone who thinks this series is suitable for young children obviously hasn't made it through the third book...

00.02.13

Books: Finished the Harry Potter series up to this point. About to start Andy Kaufman Revealed! by Bob Zmuda.

00.02.18

Games: Been playing a bit of Rockman and Forte. I've actually managed to get through most of it with the latter.

Books: Finished Andy. Lookin' next at Shadow Star by Lucas and Claremont.

00.02.23

Games: Playing Dragon Warrior III. ...Where the hell do you use the Magic Ball?!

00.02.28

Games: Found a good Dragon Warrior III FAQ at GameFAQs. It told me where to use the Magic Ball. However, it'd sure be nice if it told you which classes could equip which weapons and armor...to that end, I'm working on a chart of my own.

Books: Shadow Star by Lucas and Claremont. ...Probably should've reread the others; I've forgotten half of the last one...
